Jan. 18 – Donnie Jones, 19, of Kotzebue, was cited for minor consuming alcohol.

Jan. 19 – A citation was issued to Kana Howarth, 17, of Kotzebue, for minor consuming alcohol. Martha Ramoth, 17, of Kotzebue, was cited for minor consuming alcohol.

Jan. 30 – Dinah Sours Oktallik, 15, of Kotzebue, was cited for minor consuming alcohol.

Feb. 7 – Kana M. Howarth, 17, of Kotzebue, was charged with driving under the influence, minor consuming alcohol and driver must be licensed.

Feb. 12 – Joel C. Tuning, 24, of Kotzebue, was charged with two counts of taking moose during closed season.

Feb. 21 – Flora Cleveland, 29, was sentenced to 13 months in jail and ordered to provide a sample to the DNA registration system after pleading no contest to the charge of misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fourth degree.

Feb. 28 – A document was filed in a case against Helen Donna Karmun, 39, in which the charges of trafficking in liquor without a license or permit in a local option area and transporting alcohol by carrier to a dry area were dismissed. A document of filed in a case against Daniel Goldy in which all counts were dismissed. An order of dismissal was filed in a case against Chad A. Yenne, 18, for the charge of violating condition of release. Audrey Booth, 15, of Kotzebue, filed a request for fine extension in which she requested, and the court granted, two additional months to pay a $1,000 fine.

Feb. 29 – Kana Howarth, 18, of Kotzebue, was charged with minor consuming alcohol. Robert Evak, 36, of Kotzebue, was charged with two counts of assault in the fourth degree involving domestic violence, one count of assault in the fourth degree, on count of assault in the fourth degree involving a police officer and resisting arrest. Kana M. Howarth, 18, of Kotzebue, was sentenced to 100 days in jail with 90 days suspended, fined $1,500, ordered to complete substance abuse treatment assessment, placed on probation and the defendant’s driver’s license was revoked for 90 days after pleading guilty to the charge of driving under the influence. In two different cases, both involving a charge of minor consuming alcohol against defendant Kana Howarth, the cases were dismissed. Kirk H. Gregg, 22, was sentenced to 240 days in jail with 180 days suspended, fined $1,000 and placed on probation for two years after pleading guilty to the charge of attempted furnishing alcohol. Dismissed was a count of resisting arrest. A notice of dismissal was filed in a case against Summer Jones, 15, in which all counts were dismissed. A document was filed in a case against Clarissa Coffin in which all counts were dismissed.

March 3 – Joel C. Tuning, 24, was fined $3,000 with $1,500 suspended, ordered to forfeit the game seized and to pay restitution of $2,000, and placed on probation for one year after pleading guilty to the charge of taking moose during closed season. Casten Westlake, 21, of Kotzebue, was charged with assault in the fourth degree involving domestic violence, interfering with report of domestic violence and criminal mischief in the fourth degree involving domestic violence. Westlake was sentenced to 120 days in jail with 100 days suspended, ordered to pay restitution and placed on probation for two years after pleading guilty to the charge of interfering with report of domestic violence. Dismissed were charges of assault in the fourth degree involving domestic violence and criminal mischief in the fourth degree involving domestic violence. Albert Jack Porter, 18, of Kotzebue, was charged with criminal trespass in the first degree involving domestic violence, criminal mischief in the fourth degree involving domestic violence and minor consuming alcohol. Albert J. Porter, 18, was sentenced to 90 days in jail with 80 days suspended, fined $1,000, ordered to complete 96 hours of community work service and comply with recommendation of an alcohol safety program and placed on probation until 21 years of age after pleading guilty to the charge of possession or consumption by persons younger than 21. Dismissed were charges of criminal trespass in the first degree involving domestic violence and criminal mischief in the fourth degree involving domestic violence. Edward Garoutte, 20, of Kotzebue, was fined $1,000, which will be reduced to $500 after completing alcohol safety program, ordered to complete 48 hours of community work service, placed on probation for one year and the defendant’s driver’s license was revoked for nine months after pleading guilty to the charge of possession or consumption by persons younger than 21. Dismissed were counts of criminal trespass and violating conditions of release. In a different case, Garoutte was fined $1,000, which will be reduced to $500 after completing alcohol safety program, ordered to complete 48 hours of community work service concurrent with the case mentioned earlier, placed on probation for one year and the defendant’s driver’s license was revoked for nine months after pleading guilty to the charge of possession or consumption by a person younger than 21. Clinton J. Swan, 19, of Kivalina, was fined $600, which will be reduced to $200 after completing an alcohol safety program, and placed on probation until age 21 after pleading guilty to the charge of possession or consumption by persons younger than 21. Donnie F. Jones, 19, was fined $1,000, ordered to complete 48 hours of community work service, placed on probation until age 21, and the defendant’s driver’s license was revoked for nine months after pleading no contest to the charge of possession or consumption by a person younger than 21.

Monday, April 7 – Marvin H. Kanayurak Sr., 45, was sentenced to 10 days in jail with three days suspended and placed on probation for one year after pleading no contest to the charge of misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fifth degree.

Thursday, April 10 – Fosi Fosi Jr., 20, was fined $600, which will be reduced to $200 after completing 24 hours of community work service, ordered to attend alcohol information school and placed on probation for one year after pleading no contest to the charge of possession or consumption by persons younger than the age of 21.

Friday, April 11 – William P. Driggs, 36, was sentenced to 30 days in jail with 27 days suspended, ordered to provide a sample to the DNA registration system and to attend an alternative to violence counseling assessment and placed on probation for one year after pleading guilty to the charge of assault in the fourth degree involving domestic violence. Guy M. Yazzie, 37, was sentenced to 30 days in jail after pleading no contest to the charge of violating conditions of release.

Monday, April 14 – Cyrus John Evikana, 22, was sentenced to 30 days in jail with 29 days suspended, ordered to provide a sample to the DNA registration system and attend alternatives to violence counseling assessment and placed on probation for one year after pleading no contest to the charge of assault in the fourth degree involving domestic violence. Daryl R. Bennett, 19, was sentenced to 10 days in jail with 10 days suspended, fined $500, ordered to forfeit the marijuana, cash, scales and paraphernalia seized and placed on probation for one year after pleading no contest to the charge of misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fifth degree.

Tuesday, April 15 – An order to modify or revoke probation was filed in a case against Winona L. Akpik, 40, in which the court found the defendant had violated conditions of probation and must now serve the remaining 20 days of a sentence for a July 21, 2007, charge of assault in the fourth degree involving domestic violence.
