Barrow man charged with smuggling drugs

North Slope Borough police say a 22-year-old man was caught in Barrow transporting into the city 4 pounds, 6 ounces of marijuana. Officers estimated the package has an estimated street value of $123,000.

Marcus Williams of Barrow was contacted at the Alaska Airlines desk in the Barrow airport following an ongoing investigation.

Williams consented to a search of his luggage, and police seized the illegal drugs and forwarded charges of fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance to the district attorney.
