Bristol Bay basketball teams compete in Seward

The Bristol Bay boys and girls turned in a strong performance against larger competition this past weekend at the 2018 Seward Seahawk Basketball Tournament. Bristol Bay was the only Class 2A team participating in the three-day tournament, which was held Feb. 1-3 at Seward High School.

The Bristol Bay boys posted an 0-3 record in the tournament. The Angels, despite a strong showing by junior Connor Romer, tipped off play in the tournament on Thursday with a 70-26 loss to Hutchison in the first round. Following a loss to Houston on Friday, Bristol Bay closed out the weekend with a 50-36 setback against Seward.

The Bristol Bay girls also went winless in the tournament, going 0-3 against their larger opponents.

The Lady Angels, now 7-4 overall, dropped a 66-38 decision to Hutchison on Thursday. Following a loss to Houston on Friday, the Lady Angels finished the tournament with a narrow 54-52 loss to Seward.

Bristol Bay picked up solid play from senior Jacy Johnson, and juniors Denali Moorcroft and Sharon Hansen.
