NIKOLAEVSK - Markiana Yakunin scored 18 points and Elizabeth Fefelov added 13 more on Saturday and helped guide the Nikolaevsk Lady Warriors to a 47-40 victory over the Anaktuvuk Pass Amaguqs in final day action at the 2018 ConocoPhillips Warrior Rumble.

With the win, Nikolaevsk managed to finish third in the three-day tournament. Nenana captured the girls' team championship with a perfect 3-0 mark. Lumen Christi finished second.

Klaich narrowly missed becoming the team's third scorer in double figures, finishing with nine points.

Nikolaevsk didn't enjoy quite as much success in their opener on Thursday against Nenana. The Lady Warriors managed just six shots from the field in a tough 57-14 loss to the Lady Lynx.

Nenana, which was powered by the outside shooting of Julie Frankson and Melissa Nickoli, did most of its damage in the first half. After opening the game with a 16-5 run in the first quarter, the Lynx blew the game wide open with a 20-0 outburst in the second.

Nenana, which sank nine three-pointers in the win, led 36-5 at the half.

Frankson, who hit four treys in the second, led all Nenena scorers with 18. Nickoli added 11.

Jodie Kain paced Nikolaevsk with three points. Kristin Klaich, Yakunin and Mametieff all tallied two.

Lumen Christi added to the Lady Warriors' growing pains on Friday, holding off a torrid Nikolaevsk rally in the fourth quarter to claim a 37-34 decision. The Lady Warriors, who managed just one shot from the floor in the third and trailed by a 33-19 margin, staged an impressive 15-4 run in the final eight minutes to pull close.

Elizabeth Fefelov led Nikolaevsk's fourth-quarter run by scoring nine of her 11 points in the frame. Justina Fefelov, Yakunin and Sophia Klaich also chipped in points in the spree.
