Vernon J. Kaleak, 40, of Utqiaġvik, pleaded guilty to the class A misdemeanor charge of violating a domestic violence protective order and reached a plea agreement. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail with all 30 days suspended. He must pay a police training surcharge of $50. Kaleak has been placed on probation for one year during which time he may have no contact, either directly or indirectly, with the person listed in the case, by order of Magistrate Judge David Roghair, effective Nov. 15.

Miles Itta, 27, of Utqiaġvik, pleaded guilty to the class A misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and reached a plea agreement, through which the state amended the charge against him the unclassified misdemeanor of reckless driving, of which he was ultimately found guilty. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail with all 30 days suspended and has been fined $500, which is due no later than the end of his probation. Itta has been placed on probation for one year, during which time he may not consume or buy alcohol. He has been ordered to contact North Slope Borough Behavioral Health for an alcohol assessment and complete a screening, evaluation and recommended program and file proof of compliance with the court by Sept. 17, 2018, by order of Magistrate Judge David Roghair, effective Nov. 15.

Kenneth Rexford, 21, of Utqiaġvik, pleaded guilty to the class C felony charge of first-degree vehicle theft and reached a plea agreement through which the charge against him was amended by the state. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail with 29 days suspended and credit for time served, meaning all time has already been served for this case. He must pay a $500 fine due by the end of his probation. Rexford has been placed on probation for one year, during which time he may not consume or buy alcohol, by order of Magistrate Judge David Roghair, effective Nov. 17.
