Troopers ID fisherman who went missing in Ugashik
Alaska State Troopers have identified the fisherman who went missing last week in Ugashik Bay as 57-year-old Ninilchik resident Fredrick Bock.
The Coast Guard was first notified that Bock, a crew member on the Lady Colleen, had gone overboard into the bay's waters just after midnight on Thursday morning.
Troopers said in an online dispatch posted Tuesday that Bock was last seen aboard the fishing boat near Pilot Point around 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, July 26.
"He was reportedly wearing dark-green rain gear and Xtratuf boots," the dispatch said. Petty Officer First Class Bill Colclough previously told Alaska Dispatch News that Bock wasn't wearing a life jacket and reportedly could not swim.
Two Coast Guard air crews searched all day Thursday, suspending the search Friday morning, Colclough said.
The official search has been called off, but troopers are requesting anyone with information about the incident to call their Dillingham post at 866-742-5641.
