May 8-14

Anchor Point Fire and EMS responded to five EMS calls and two fire calls.

Kachemak Emergency Services responded to one EMS call and one fire call.

Homer Volunteer Fire Department responded to eight emergency medical service calls, one fire response and one request for mutual aid.


May 12

8:26 a.m. A caller on the Spit reported camping rule violations and aggressive behavior.

9:30 a.m. An officer summonsed Adam Mahoney-Ardenia, 22, for reckless driving on the Homer Spit.

10:15 a.m. A caller requested assistance with retrieving stolen merchandise and gave information on a wanted subject. Information passed on to AST, and Daniel Rosendahl, 30, was arrested on a failure-to-appear warrant.

12:49 p.m. An officer was flagged down by a female who reported a traffic hazard at East Hill Road and South Slope Drive. DOT notified.

5:48 p.m. A caller reported theft from a building on the Sterling Highway.

7:08 p.m. A caller reported theft on Grubstake Avenue.

7:25 p.m. A caller requested help in contacting a guest on the Homer Spit.

8:46 p.m. A caller reported finding a dog on the Sterling Highway.

May 13

11:14 a.m. A 911 caller requested officer assistance with a child custody issue on Lake Street.

12:49 p.m. Callers reported a motor vehicle accident with damage at East End Road and Pennock Street.

3:42 p.m. Dellan Vanbuskirk, 31, was issued a summons for shoplifting at a business on Lake Street.

7:07 p.m. A 911 caller reported a public restroom on West Pioneer Avenue at Bartlett Street was locked with no response from the inside for an extended period of time. Officer found that the bathroom was locked by the city due to maintenance.

10:33 p.m. A 911 caller reported a child being physically assaulted on Bay Avenue.

10:55 p.m. A caller reported people yelling at Main Street and Ohlson Lane and causing a disturbance.

May 14

12:35 a.m. An officer conducted a traffic stop on the Homer Bypass, and contacted a vehicle with stolen plates. Rebecca Carroll, 25, was arrested for improper use of registration, failure to provide proof of insurance and driving without a valid license.

1:49 a.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle on the Homer Spit, with a subject walking around with a flashlight.

12:01 p.m. A caller reported a male acting strangely at Jenny Way and Ohlson Lane.

1:37 p.m. An officer summonsed Robert Ottaway, 52, for driving without a license.

4:08 p.m. A caller reported the sound of firearm discharge within city limits.

5:38 p.m. A caller reported threats and child-custody issues on Beluga Place.

7:56 p.m. An unknown caller reported a male had fallen on a sidewalk near Lake Street and Ocean Drive. An officer provided transportation for the subject.

8:26 p.m. A caller reported a "strange" man at a public building on Heath Street.

10:45 p.m. An agency reported a large fire and intoxicated male being unsafe in the area around Freight Dock Road. Officers arrested Frank Thompson, 55, for disorderly conduct.

11:07 p.m. A 911 caller reported a domestic dispute in a neighboring apartment complex on Main Street. Police arrested Claude Kuzakin on a failure-to-appear warrant.

May 15

9:16 a.m. A caller reported harassment at a public function at East Pioneer Ave. and Heath Street.

11:34 a.m. A caller reported losing a piece of construction equipment off the back of a vehicle in the Homer area.

1:28 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a female in the Homer area. Information passed on to AST and officers BOLO for vehicle.

6:07 p.m. A caller reported neighbors' dogs inside her chicken coop on Whispering Meadows Ave.

7:15 p.m. Multiple callers reported a newborn moose calf and cow in the middle of the road out East End near East Hill Road. Alaska Department of Fish and Game contacted, moose and calf gone on officers' arrival.

9:43 p.m. A caller requested a subject be given a trespass warning from a business on the Homer Bypass. A male subject was contacted and advised of the trespass.

10:20 p.m. A subject was issued an indecent exposure warning for urinating on the sidewalk near Grubstake Avenue and Heath Street.

Alaska State Troopers

On May 10, at 11:44 a.m., an employee of Custom Carpet Cleaning reported a window in a company vehicle had been shot out. An investigation showed that sometime during the previous weekend, unknown persons(s) shot at the vehicle, causing damage. Anyone with any information on this incident is asked to contact the Alaska State Troopers at 907-262-4453?

On May 11, at 9:30 a.m., troopers were notified of a burglary at a residence on Tall Tree Avenue in Anchor Point. Investigation showed that sometime during the previous several months, unknown person(s) gained entry to the residence and took an unknown amount of items. The investigation is ongoing.
