Asiagin D. Ahmaogak, 25, of Wainwright, pleaded guilty to two class A misdemeanor charges of domestic violence assault in the fourth degree for causing reckless injury and reached a plea agreement. He was sentenced to 270 days in jail for the first count. The sentence will begin no later than the night of May 25. For the second count, Ahmaogak was sentenced to 360 days with the whole time suspended. He must pay a $50 police training surcharge and an initial jail surcharge of $50. He has been ordered to contact North Slope Borough Behavioral Health within 30 days of his release from jail for a treatment needs assessment and complete a screening, evaluation, and recommended program, and file proof of compliance with the court by April 25, 2018. A weapon seized in the case, along with three magazines of ammunition, has been forfeited to the state. Ahmaogak has been placed on probation until April 25, 2019, during which time he may not consume or buy alcohol, possess any firearms, or have any contact with Darren Anasogak unless he files written consent with the court, by order of Judicial Officer Pro Tem Michael Jeffery, effective April 25.
