Jesse Noden, Jimmy Nicolai and Thresa Savo all wrestled their way to silver medals this past weekend at the 2017 Alaska USA State Wrestling Championships. The three were among 10 Dillingham grapplers to compete in the tournament, which was held April 27 to 29 at the Menard Sports Complex in Wasilla.

Noden capped a successful weekend on the mat by grabbing second in the Cadet 138-pound weight classification in the Folkstyle state tournament. He placed fifth in the Freestyle and Roman-Greco tournaments earlier in the week.

Like Noden, Nicolai did well in all three styles at the tournament. He finished second in the Junior 120-pound division in the Roman-Greco format. He was fifth in the Folkstyle and sixth in the Freestyle events.

Savo garnered her silver medal in the women's state tournament. She finished as the state runner-up in the Schoolgirl 105-pound division.

James Kasayulie and Samuel Jenkins also did well for Dillingham. Kasayulie worked his way to a bronze medal in the Freestyle with a third-place finish in the Schoolboy 175-pound ranks.

He also netted fourth in the Roman-Greco and Folkstyle formats. Jenkins was fourth in the Junior 182-pound division in the Folkstyle.

He was fifth in the Freestyle and Roman-Greco competitions.

Zach Kolbe and Justin Dye also posted strong outings. Kolbe was sixth in the Roman-Greco Schoolboy 126 standings. Dye was fifth in the Junior 120-pound Freestyle bracket.

Diillingham's Demetry Hoseth, Tanner Savo and Samuel Calvert also performed well during the meet.
