Hopson grapplers shine at invitational

Vincent Elkins and the Hopson Middle School wrestling team turned in a standout effort at the 2017 Tanana Middle School Invitational Wrestling Tournament this past weekend. The team's seven wrestlers battled their way to 20th in the final team standings with 45 points.

Elkins highlighted the team's efforts by finishing eighth in the 275-pound weight classification.

JayRick Nobleza and Aldrin Bankston also did well. Nobleza wrestled his was to a 2-2 mark in the 132-pound bracket. Bankston was 2-2 in the boys' 91-pound division. Crawford Patkotak, Ervin Feleti and JoeRenz Nobleza also notched wins at the event.

Nobleza was 1-2 in the 77-pound division. Patkotak was 1-2 in the 110-pound ranks, while Feleti was 1-2 in the 118-pound standings.

JohnKarl Domingo also competed in the tournament, wrestling in the 140-pound division. Overall, more tham 30 teams from throughout the state participated in the tournament.
