Dillingham Police arrested an Anchorage man with an outstanding warrant for activity in another jurisdiction after a multi-day search.

Police Chief Dan Pasquariello said officers arrested Christian Young, a 24-year-old Anchorage resident, on the evening of Sept. 6 after looking for him for several days. He was taken to the Dillingham jail.

Police had been looking for Young since Sept. 2?They initially tried to arrest him at the airport that day, but he ran away. Young had pled guilty to armed robbery charges in 2015, for a 2013 incident. In May, a new charge was filed for a probation violation related to that 2013 incident.

Police found the outstanding warrant that led them to try to arrest him after hearing that he'd be at the airport that day. As news of that incident spread through town, Pasquariello said it snowballed and caused more public panic than necessary as police continued the search through the weekend.

On Sept. 7, Dillingham magistrate Tina Reigh ordered him held without bail temporarily. A petition to revoke Young's probation was filed in Anchorage two days later, and had not been acted on as of Sept. 9.
