Trevor Hickerson and Louis Edenshaw both medaled this past weekend and helped carry the Kotzebue Middle School Huskies to a solid performance at the Tanana Middle School Wrestling tournament. The 11 KJHS matmen finished 14th overall with a total of 62 points.

Hickerson highlighted the Huskies' efforts by wrestling his way to fifth in the 105-pound division. He finished the tournament with a 6-2 record, including a win over Ryan Middle School's Enrique Agnew in the fifth-place matchup.

Hickerson's fifth-place win came via a pin.

Edenshaw placed sixth in the 174-pound division. After going 3-2 and qualifying for the fifth-place match, he suffered a tough 12-1 loss to Tanana's Craig Schill-Zonts.

Zeke Eakin and Harry Baldwin also netted three wins at the meet. Eakin went 3-2 in the 114-pound bracket. Baldwin was 3-2 in the 118-pound classification.

Seth Roetman also posted a 3-2 mark in the 148-pound division.

Ethan Roetman was almost just as impressive. The KJHS standout posted a 2-2 record in the 91-pound classification.

Kotzebue also picked up wins from Moira Sheldon, Carmella McCall, Erik Mills-Bain, Jack Hyatt and Angela Peacock.

Palmer Middle School walked away with the overall team title by racking up 279 points. North Pole and Bethel finished second and third, respectively.
