Barrow red-hot entering Whaler InvitationalPublished on February 4th, 2010 By ARCTIC SOUNDER STAFF The Barrow boys are the favorites to win this weekend's Whaler Invitational. But it's not because they are the home team. The Whalers are playing some of the best basketball in the state right now, winning 11 of 12 games this season, including last week's two-game road sweep at Kotzebue. Barrow won Friday's game 83-27 behind the play of Victor Unutoa (12 points, eight rebounds) and Tyler Adams (nine points, eight assists). Albert Gerke led the team in scoring with 14 points and Daniel Thomas added 10. In the second game Saturday, Barrow cruised to a 69-13 victory. The Whalers had three players reach double figures, Adams (18), Thomas (14) and Unutoa (11). The Whaler Invitational begins round-robin action today and wraps up Saturday night.
